Dahlia Orange Fubuki

Dahlia ‘Orange Fubuki’ is a vibrant fimbriata dahlia that brings warmth, texture, and luminous colour into the late summer garden. Its large blooms open in glowing shades of orange, apricot, and soft golden amber, with finely divided petal tips that create a soft, feathered edge and a more expressive, slightly untamed flower form compared to traditional decorative dahlias. The petals are narrow and delicately split at the tips, giving each bloom a fringed, almost airy texture. This detail becomes especially noticeable up close, while from a distance the flowers read as bold, warm bursts of colour that move beautifully in the garden. Each bloom typically measures around 12–15 cm across and is held on strong, upright stems above healthy green foliage.

Plants grow to approximately 90–120 cm in height, forming a strong, well-branched habit that performs reliably throughout the season. From midsummer until the first frosts, ‘Orange Fubuki’ produces a continuous succession of blooms, especially when regularly cut or deadheaded. The more it is harvested, the more it flowers, making it highly productive for both garden display and cutting use. In the garden, this variety brings a strong sense of warmth and energy without feeling heavy. It blends beautifully with deep reds, bronze foliage, soft peaches, creamy whites, and rich late-season tones. The fringed texture also adds movement and contrast when planted alongside more structured flower forms, making it especially effective in mixed borders and seasonal planting schemes.

As a cut flower, it is highly reliable. The stems are long, strong, and clean, and the blooms hold their form well in arrangements. Its warm colouring makes it easy to combine with both soft romantic palettes and bolder autumn-inspired combinations, adding depth and texture without overpowering other flowers.

Plant dahlia tubers in spring after the risk of frost has passed, in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Stake plants early in exposed locations to support growth, and water regularly during dry periods. In colder regions, lift and store tubers after the first frost.
