Description
Dahlia ‘Skyfall’ is a collarette dahlia defined by its layered structure and natural, pollinator-friendly form. The blooms feature a single outer ring of soft lilac to pink petals, often deepening toward raspberry tones, creating a subtle shift in colour across each flower. Inside this outer ring sits a second collar of shorter petals that frames an open golden centre. This exposed disc is rich in pollen and highly attractive to bees and other pollinators, giving the plant both ornamental value and ecological benefit.
Flowers measure approximately 10 cm across and are carried on strong, upright stems. Plants grow in a compact, bushy habit reaching around 60–90 cm in height, making them suitable for borders, containers, and mixed planting schemes. From midsummer until the first frosts, ‘Skyfall’ produces a continuous succession of blooms. Its open structure encourages consistent flowering throughout the season, with fresh flowers appearing regularly when spent blooms are removed.
In the garden, this variety brings a lighter, more natural effect than fully double dahlias. It works particularly well in cottage gardens, informal borders and wildlife-friendly plantings where movement, texture and pollinator activity are key.
As a cut flower, it offers a relaxed, natural style with added detail from its collarette form. It blends easily into mixed arrangements and pairs well with both structured and looser seasonal flowers.
