Mini Daffodil Polar Hunter

Mini Daffodil ‘Polar Hunter’ is an unusual and elegant spring flowering bulb admired for its rare colour transformation. While most daffodils bloom in bright yellow, Polar Hunter opens in striking olive-green buds that gradually soften to pale greenish white and finally to gentle ivory tones as the flowers mature.

This fascinating colour shift gives the plant a luminous appearance in the garden, especially in the soft light of early spring. The variety was bred in New Zealand by hybridiser John A. Hunter and introduced in 2020. Its unique colouring is partly inherited from the rare green-flowering species Narcissus viridiflorus, which contributes to the delicate green glow seen in the blooms.

Unlike traditional daffodils that produce a single flower per stem, Polar Hunter often carries up to four blooms on each stem. This creates a light, graceful effect and ensures a generous display even when planted in small groups. The flowers are also pleasantly fragrant, releasing a sweet scent reminiscent of jasmine and honey.

Reaching about 30–35 cm in height, this compact daffodil is ideal for borders, rock gardens, woodland settings and containers. It also naturalises easily in well-drained soil, returning each spring with minimal care.
