Description
Scilla peruviana is a bold and eye-catching bulb for the late spring garden. Each bulb produces a large, rounded flower head made up of many small, star-shaped flowers in rich violet-blue colours. The flowers open slowly from the centre, so the display lasts for several weeks.
The strong flower stems rise above broad, glossy green leaves, giving the plant a striking and structured look. It works very well in borders, gravel gardens and large pots. Originally from the Mediterranean, Scilla peruviana prefers sunny spots with well-drained soil and can handle dry conditions once established. Over time, the bulbs grow larger and produce even more impressive flowers each year.
