Description
Dahlia Floorinoor is an anemone-flowered dahlia and one of the most eye-catching varieties in its group. The flower is immediately recognisable. A ring of large, flat petals in strong magenta pink, shading towards orange and peach at the base, surrounds a dense, domed centre in deep copper orange. That contrast between the glowing pink outer ring and the fiery centre is what makes Floorinoor so hard to walk past in a border.
The variety was registered in 2001 by L. Verhoeven in Sint Michielsgestel in the Netherlands. Hardly surprising it came from there. Few countries have the same instinct for what a dahlia can become.
The flowers are 10 to 12 centimetres across and come in generous numbers from July right through to the first autumn frosts. The plant reaches 100 to 110 centimetres, grows upright with dark green foliage that sets off the warm flower colours beautifully. The open centre brings in bees and butterflies throughout the season.
As a cut flower Floorinoor holds well in a vase and brings immediate warmth to any arrangement. In the border it sits naturally alongside ornamental grasses, purple salvias or other dahlias in complementary warm tones. A late summer dahlia that makes no apologies for itself.

Planting information

- Depth is measurement of space between the soil line and top of bulb or bare root.
- Set the bulbs or bare root in place, pointed side or sprout side upward.
- Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
