Description

Dahlia ‘Sturm Sweet Maria’ is a decorative dahlia valued for its soft colour transitions and well-balanced flower form. The blooms are fully double, made up of neatly layered petals that create a rounded shape with a naturally elegant appearance. Colour develops gradually through the season. Flowers typically open in warm apricot tones before softening into blush pink, salmon and creamy shades as they mature. This creates continuous variation across the plant, with multiple tones visible at the same time, giving a layered and naturally changing display.

Blooms measure around 10–12 cm across and are carried on strong, upright stems that rise clearly above the foliage. Plants form a vigorous, well-branched structure and reach approximately 90–110 cm in height, making them suitable for both borders and cutting gardens. From midsummer until the first frosts, ‘Sturm Sweet Maria’ produces a steady succession of flowers. Regular cutting encourages further blooming, ensuring long-lasting performance throughout the season.

In the garden, this variety works especially well in soft, romantic planting schemes. It pairs naturally with creams, mauves, pale pinks and ornamental grasses, where its shifting tones add warmth and depth without overpowering surrounding plants.

As a cut flower, it is highly reliable. The long stems, good vase life and evolving colour palette make it particularly valuable for natural-style arrangements and seasonal bouquets.
