Description
Dahlia Fashion Monger is a collarette dahlia and one of the most distinctive dahlia types you can grow. The flower has two layers. The outer petals are broad and deep raspberry red with cream-coloured edges. Inside those sits a shorter collar of white petals, all surrounding a warm golden-yellow centre. It is a flower with real structure and character. Most people look at it twice.
Fashion Monger has been around since 1955 and has never really gone out of fashion. That kind of staying power says something. It grows to around 90 centimetres, upright and well-branched, and blooms from July right through to the first frosts of autumn. The open centre makes it one of the best dahlias for bees and butterflies. Pollinators can get to the nectar easily, which is not always the case with fully double varieties.
It works well as a cut flower and holds up nicely in a vase. In the border it looks good on its own or planted alongside other late summer flowers. A reliable, long-blooming dahlia that earns its place every year.

Planting information

- Depth is measurement of space between the soil line and top of bulb or bare root.
- Set the bulbs or bare root in place, pointed side or sprout side upward.
- Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
