Description
Dahlia ‘Red and White Fubuki’ is a fimbriata dahlia prized for its dramatic colouring and finely textured blooms. The petals are deeply fringed at the tips, creating a soft, feathered effect that gives the flowers movement and a more expressive appearance than traditional decorative dahlias. Each bloom opens in rich crimson-red tones highlighted with crisp white tips and streaking. Some flowers display sharp colour separation, while others develop softer feathered patterns across the petals, creating subtle variation throughout the plant and ensuring every bloom feels slightly unique.
Flowers typically measure around 10–12 cm across and are carried on long, sturdy stems. Plants grow to approximately 90–120 cm in height, forming a vigorous upright habit that performs equally well in borders and cutting gardens. From midsummer until the first frosts, ‘Red and White Fubuki’ flowers continuously. It responds particularly well to regular cutting or deadheading, producing a steady succession of fresh blooms throughout the season.
In the garden, this variety adds strong contrast and texture without feeling overly dense. The vivid red-and-white colouring stands out beautifully against softer planting schemes, ornamental grasses and pale companion flowers, especially when planted in groups.
As a cut flower, it is exceptionally effective. The fringed petals bring movement and texture to arrangements, while the strong stems and bold colouring make it ideal for late summer bouquets.
