Description
Dahlia ‘Tsuki-Yori-No-Shisha’, also known as Moonlight Messenger, is a spider dahlia defined by its dramatic structure and light, flowing form. Its long, narrow petals twist and curl outward in every direction, creating an open, almost weightless bloom that feels constantly in motion.
The flowers are pure white, sometimes with a subtle ivory glow toward the centre, and form large, sculptural heads that stand out clearly in the garden. Rather than appearing dense or compact, each bloom has an airy, architectural quality that highlights its shape as much as its colour.
This is a tall variety, growing to approximately 120–150 cm, with strong upright stems that lift the flowers above the foliage and create a clear vertical presence in borders. It flowers steadily from midsummer until the first frost, especially when regularly cut.
In the garden, it adds height, light and contrast rather than mass colour, blending particularly well with grasses, perennials and looser planting styles where its open structure can move freely among other plants.
Planting information

- Depth is measurement of space between the soil line and top of bulb or bare root.
- Set the bulbs or bare root in place, pointed side or sprout side upward.
- Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
