Description

If you want something a little different for your summer garden, Sanguisorba ‘Chocolate Tip’ is a great choice. This hardy perennial produces masses of small, deep burgundy flowerheads that almost look chocolate brown. The flowers grow on slender stems above attractive green foliage, creating a light and airy effect in the garden.

Flowering from July to September, sometimes into October, ‘Chocolate Tip’ adds rich color and movement to garden borders. Its unusual, bottlebrush-shaped flowers look beautiful alongside ornamental grasses, Echinacea, Salvia and other summer-flowering perennials.

Growing to around 60 to 100 cm tall, this variety is more compact than some other Sanguisorba plants. It is ideal for the middle of a border, where its dark flowers create a striking contrast with lighter-colored plants.

Sanguisorba ‘Chocolate Tip’ is also a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens, attracting bees and other beneficial insects. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Once established, it is easy to grow, needs little maintenance and returns year after year.

At DutchGrown, we supply Sanguisorba ‘Chocolate Tip’ as a bare root plant, ready for spring planting. Dispatch begins in mid-March.
